who is rojas villareal

Rojas Villarreal is the alter-ego of Julio Maximiliano Rojas (but just call him “Max”) Texas-born Chicano filmmaker and recording artist redefining what it means to be a storyteller in Hollywood today. Before moving to Los Angeles in 2021, Rojas spent his past decade producing Spanish-language, feature-length films that celebrate the grit, humor, and heart of border-town culture. Now expanding his creative empire into music — Rojas is bringing the same cinematic depth and unapologetic authenticity to the mic.

A proud “Cholo in Polo,” Rojas blends filmic vision with lyrical finesse, crafting rap tracks that speak to a generation that lives “ni de aquí, ni de allá” — neither from here nor there. His debut project introduces four Spanish-language rap tracks and his first-ever English single, “WHO A GOAT,” released October 10, 2025 on Spotify — a high-energy anthem that hypes pop-culture ambitions fused with street storytelling in a bilingual bravado.

As Co-Founder and Creative Director of El Valle Films, based in the Rio Grande Valley, Rojas has written, directed, and produced a slate of acclaimed Spanish-language feature films, spotlighting Mexican-American identity and the modern Latin experience. His credits span directing, writing, producing, acting, and cinematography, including:

  • Evil Lurking (Currently in Post-Production) — Producer, AD

  • Pistolero Maldad y Malicia (2024) - Writer, Cinematographer

  • Caos Caníbal (2024) — Actor

  • Fist of Justice (2021) — Director, Writer, Original Music

  • Atrapado por su Pasado (2021) — Director, Editor

  • El Matador (2017) — Director

From the Rio Grande Valley to LA, Rojas Villarreal is carving out a new lane — one where film and flow collide. With his debut English single “WHO A GOAT,” he’s proving he’s not just telling stories anymore — he’s living them, one verse at a time.
